Our theme this half term is Let’s Celebrate!
This term our topic is based around celebrations. The children will be learning about lots of different celebrations such as Halloween, Diwali, Bonfire Night, Birthdays and Christmas.
We will be starting our Halloween theme by reading the story Meg and Mog by Helen Nicoll and completing a variety of comprehension and writing activities around the text.
In phonics, we will continue to learn Phase 2 phonemes and tricky words, and use our new phonic knowledge to blend and segment words for reading and writing. In maths, we will explore the composition of numbers within 10, and recognise the value of each number by subitising.
Our theme in PE is how to catch a star. We will continue to develop our gross motor and fundamental movement skills during our indoor and outdoor PE sessions. We will also practise our letter formation, using the red rose ditties and weekly handwriting sessions as support. We will also develop our listening and attention skills, speaking skills, and social skills through our opportunities to play and circle times. For expressive arts and design, we will be creating Kandinsky style Rangoli patterns inspired by Diwali.
Please try to read your home reading book for 5 minutes each evening to consolidate what we have learned in school.
