Our theme this half-term is People Who Help Us!
This half-term, we will be using a variety of fiction and non-fiction texts to learn about people who help us. During this topic, we will explore the roles and responsibilities of people who help us in the community, such as police officers, firefighters and paramedics. We will be starting by reading the story Burglar Bill by Janet and Allan Ahlberg and completing a variety of comprehension and writing activities around the text.
In phonics, we will continue to learn Phase 3 phonemes and common exception words, and use our new phonic knowledge to blend and segment words for reading and writing. In maths, we will explore the properties of 2D and 3D shapes, add and subtract numbers to 10 and continue to develop our halving and doubling skills.
Our theme in PE is transport. We will continue to develop our gross motor and fundamental movement skills during our indoor and outdoor PE sessions. We will also practise our letter formation, using the red rose ditties and weekly handwriting sessions as support. We will also develop our listening and attention skills, speaking skills, and social skills through our play and circle times. For expressive arts and design, we will be creating emergency vehicle paper plate crafts and mixing different colours for effect.
Our PE days are Monday and Friday.
